The Western Cape Futures Symposium (WCFS) returns on 5–6 May 2027, bringing together communities, industry, government, researchers and Traditional Owners to continue shaping a shared vision for the future of the Western Cape.

Hosted by the Western Cape Chamber of Commerce, the third symposium is delivered in partnership with Aurukun Shire Council, Mapoon Aboriginal Shire Council, Napranum Aboriginal Shire Council, the Weipa Town Authority, the Torres & Cape Indigenous Council Alliance, the Western Cape Communities Trust, Rio Tinto, and the TNQ Drought Hub.

Building on the success of the previous two symposia, WCFS has become an important forum for exploring opportunities, strengthening partnerships and fostering collaborative approaches to the region’s future. The symposium creates a unique space for communities to share ideas, celebrate local innovation and identify practical pathways for sustainable economic development, environmental stewardship and community wellbeing.

The TNQ Drought Hub is proud to continue its partnership with the Western Cape Futures Symposium, supporting conversations that connect research with local knowledge and bring together the people, organisations and industries working to build resilient communities across northern Australia.
