The TNQ Drought Hub recently joined colleagues, collaborators and friends at Trinity Beach Tap House to celebrate the retirement of Professor Allan Dale and recognise his outstanding contribution to Northern Australia.

A long time supporter, collaborator and member of the TNQ Drought Hub, Allan has dedicated his career to strengthening regional development, Indigenous enterprise, natural resource management and collaborative approaches to building resilient communities. Throughout his work, he has championed partnerships that bring together researchers, industry, governments and Traditional Owners to tackle some of northern Australia’s most complex social, environmental and economic challenges.

As Professor of Tropical Regional Development at James Cook University and Chief Scientist for the Cooperative Research Centre for Developing Northern Australia (CRCNA), Allan has played a leading role in advancing initiatives that support sustainable regional development and drought resilience. Within the TNQ Drought Hub, he has been a valued contributor to the Hub’s SATSIE program and its broader vision of strengthening resilient communities through collaboration and innovation.

The evening was an opportunity to reflect on Allan’s remarkable career, celebrate his many achievements and thank him for the generosity, wisdom and leadership he has shared with colleagues across the region. While Allan’s retirement marks the end of an extraordinary chapter, his influence on northern Australia, and on the many people and organisations he has worked alongside, will continue for years to come.

The TNQ Drought Hub wishes Allan every success and happiness in his retirement and thanks him for his enduring commitment to building a stronger, more resilient northern Australia.
