The TNQ Drought Hub joined researchers, students, industry and government representatives at JCU’s 2026 Research Festival in Townsville, celebrating the breadth and impact of research happening across the University.

The hub attended both the Research Festival Launch and Research Exhibition, which showcased research projects, innovation and the work of JCU’s research community. The launch also celebrated the finalists and winners of the JCU Research Awards.

For the hub, the festival was a valuable opportunity to connect with researchers from across JCU, learn more about emerging research and explore opportunities to link research with external partners and regional needs.

The exhibition highlighted the depth of research taking place across areas relevant to northern Queensland, including agriculture, technology, sustainability and environmental resilience.

Building connections between researchers, industry and communities is an important part of the hub’s role. Events like the Research Festival provide a space to start conversations, share ideas and identify opportunities to turn research into practical outcomes for the region.

Congratulations to all the JCU Research Award finalists and winners, and to the researchers and students who shared their work throughout the festival.
